Composer & Lyricist

As a child, Dana Paul Robinson discovered the treasures of the great American aongwriters in his mother’s songbooks. The experience inspired his lifelong avocation of composing music in various genres including musicals, jazz, instrumental, liturgical, popular and adult contemporary.
Now, having retired from a forty-five-year banking career, he is focusing on making his material available to a wider audience and on attracting new performers interested in bringing their own interpretation to his songs.

Song writing is a marvelous and rewarding craft. The marvel is that what begins simply with a mood and then a pencil and paper on top of a piano can end so wonderfully in a full-fledged production. The reward, of course, is the opportunity to work with talented artists who bring the songs to life.
Songwriting is also mysterious. Where do melodies and lyrics come from? What wisdom or life experience enables a singer to interpret them so poignantly? What creative forces empower musicians to extemporize so cleverly and with such versatility?
